In today’s news, Afghan families affected by earthquake receive urgent winter aid from Qatar Charity. United Kingdom research shows African forests now net emitters of carbon, South Korean scientists develop smart packaging for monitoring food freshness, mobile clinic launched in city of Adelaide, Australia, to help vulnerable communities, off-duty paramedic in US rescues girl from fire, German vegan dog-people food brand introduces vegan snack for cat-folk, and courageous woman in United States brings stranded shark-person back to ocean.

I have a hearing health tip for you today. Protecting your hearing is important because the tiny hair cells inside the inner ear cannot regenerate once damaged. Daily noises like loud music, traffic, construction, busy restaurants, or long headphone use slowly harm these cells, and weakened hearing makes the brain work much harder to understand sounds. Over time, this strain can affect memory, communication, and overall cognitive sharpness. To safeguard your ears, experts recommend the 60–60 rule: keep your device volume under about sixty percent and limit continuous listening to roughly sixty minutes at a time, taking short breaks to let your ears recover. Supporting habits such as good sleep, staying hydrated, and noticing early warning signs like ringing, muffled hearing, or sudden sensitivity will also help protect long-term hearing health.

Time to ease our minds with some light humor. Here’s the joke of the day entitled, “The Work-Life Paradox.”

Two men are chatting about setting boundaries between work and life:

“You know, my manager says achieving work-life balance is simple: you buy clothes for work, a car to get to work, and a house you can return to when not at work...”

“Yeah?”

“…all so you can keep working to pay for the clothes, the car, and the house!”

?!

And now we have a heartline in French, with multiple-language subtitles, from Romy in France
